Red Kites@Ferngrove

Galloway Red Kites.

There is a Galloway Kite Trail with a route of approximately 24 miles around Loch Ken.

The Red Kites were saved from extinction and re-introduced in Kirkcudbrightshire in 2001 and are now quite abundant in this area.

At Ferngrove we are fortunate that they regularly visit our garden to feed, although we cant guarantee that they will appear. Their agility and precision when feeding is astounding, keen Photographers and Bird Watchers are thrilled when they visit.

Thanks to Mr Paul Davies and Mrs Angela Watts for their photo contributions.
